Can a joke or humorous story still be funny when you have been given the punchline beforehand?
Dave is on a mission to find out as the multi award-winning comedian brings his brand new tour ‘Punchlines’ to Preston Guild Hall next year.
With a career spanning two decades, he has numerous TV appearances to his name as a stand-up comedian, presenter and actor – and behind the screens, as an acclaimed comedy writer.
He is the co-writer and co-star of That Peter Kay Thing and Phoenix Nights, writer and co-star of Dead Man Weds and Magnolia; presenter of Bullseye, team captain on four hit series of 8 out of 10 Cats and presenter of The TV Book Club.
Dave’s showbusiness journey began in 1990. After winning the North West Comedian of the Year Award, he became a regular on the club circuit and once famously supported Jack Dee, Max Boyce, Cannon & Ball and Eddie Izzard all in one week.
Early in his career he followed in the footsteps of Jeremy Beadle and Ted Robbins presenting ITV’s legendary game show Chain Letters.
With his new tour, Dave takes a look at all the classics, from nuns in baths to Prince Charles’s fur hat to that Lion walking into a pub, delivering them all with the quick one-two of a heavyweight comedy champion.
Add to this an irresistible mix of acute observational humour and the odd memory jerking gag and your ribs will not just be tickled but thoroughly pummelled.
See Dave at Preston Guild Hall on Friday October 23, 7.30pm, tickets £17.50 via www.prestonguildhall.com or call 01772 80 44 44.
