Cyclist severely injured after crash with milk tanker in Scorton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was left with severe injuries following a crash in Scorton on Halloween.

At around 3.10pm, the cyclist, a 49-year-old man from Poulton was travelling along Long Lane when near to Tinkers Lane, he came off his bike into the path of a milk tanker travelling on the opposite side of the road.

The milk tanker has gone over the cyclist and he has been left with multiple fractures to his upper body, a severe leg injury and internal injuries. He is currently in a serious condition at Royal Preston Hospital.

Sgt Nigel Ralphson from the Road Policing Unit said: “This looks like an extremely tragic accident which has left a man in a very poorly condition in hospital.

“We need anyone who may have seen anything that could help us with our investigation to come forward.”
