Woman scalped in attack

A WOMAN suffered horrific injuries when she was scalped during an attack.

The 45-year-old victim was drinking in the Carnforth Hotel on North Road at 6.30pm on Friday, January 20, when another woman approached her, grabbed her hair and dragged her to the floor.

Part of the woman’s scalp, a 10cm x 2cm patch of skin and hair, was torn away during the assault and she was left seriously injured.

Police said she would probably require plastic surgery.

A 45-year-old woman from Carnforth was arrested for two counts of assault and one of wounding in connection with the incident and was released on police bail until February 20.
