Westgate bookmakers hit by burglars

BURGLARS forced their way into a bookmakers on Westgate and ripped out the safe.

Police were called to the Betfred shop on the Glentworth Road West shopping precinct at 8.55 this morning.

A 999 call reported the door had been “booted in” during the night and the safe stolen.

Officers were still at the scene investigating the break-in as The Visitor went to press.

The value of the stolen safe and any contents had not been confirmed.

Mark Pearson of Betfred said: “We take the security of both our staff and customers very seriously and we will be working with the police to investigate this matter.”
