A COUNTY councillor is warning people against email scams after receiving one to his personal email account.
County Councillor Tim Ashton reported the email, asking for money to be wired to a foreign bank account, to Trading Standards and is urging others to do the same.
He said: “The email purported to be from someone who had been robbed while on holiday in Spain and was asking for money to get back to the UK.
“Most people will recognise these scams for what they are, but the reason the criminals behind them persist is that it only takes one or two people to respond to the thousands of emails they send out for it to be worthwhile.”
