Police are warning residents to beware of a phone scam after several reports of people being called allegedly from the Scotland Yard fraud department.
The caller states that the resident’s bank details have been hacked and money has been taken.
They urge the resident to hang up and call their bank.
The caller will then keep the line open and pretend to be the resident’s bank, obtaining personal details.
If you receive any such calls, please ensure that you either call your own bank using a different telephone, ensure that your line is completely closed prior to making any calls to your bank, or visit your bank in person.
Banks and police do not cold call residents.
