POLICE are appealing for information after an attempt to raid a cash machine at the Spar shop on Willow Lane in Lancaster.

The incident took place overnight between Thursday September 29 and Friday 30 September when offenders entered a number of yards belonging to business premises on Lune Industrial Estate.

The offenders tried to break through the wall of the building that houses the ATM in what appears to be an attempt to attack the machine.

Police believe that nothing has been stolen.

Detective Sergeant Mark Stephens from Lancaster CID, said: “We’re asking for any members of the public who may have seen suspicious activity in the vicinity of the Spar shop on Willow Lane and the area around this location, particularly on the industrial estate at the rear of the premises to contact us.”

Call Lancaster CID on 01524 63333 or 01524 596712 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

On August 26, a gang got away with thousands of pounds when they broke into a cash machine at the BP garage on Owen Road in Skerton. Two men from Durham have been arrested and bailed in connection with that offence.
