Another Poppy Appeal collection has been stolen in Morecambe.

As officers continue to investigate the theft of a box from the Pier Hotel in October, Lancashire Police said they were appealing for information over a separate incident.

The latest theft, details of which were released by the force today, happened on November 9, when it was stolen from the Ribblesdale Court retirement complex on Euston Road between 9am and 12pm.

The thief took the collection - raising funds for the Royal British Legion - from the residents’ lounge, leaving the poppies behind.

It was thought to contain around £30.

PC Kirsty Stanworth, of Lancashire Police, said: “This is a despicable offence and I would urge anyone who has any information that could help us to catch the person responsible to contact Lancashire Police on 101, quoting crime reference BB1304350.”

Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
