Man arrested after student shot dead

A 17-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with the unprovoked murder of a Lancaster University student who was gunned down in the street.

Anuj Bidve, a 23-year-old electronics postgraduate student from India, was on a night out in Salford when he was shot at close range.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have released no further information about the suspect, who was detained on Tuesday.

Mr Bidve was with a group of nine male and female students, also from India, when they were approached by two men at Ordsall Lane in Salford in the early hours of Monday.
