A reveller who punched a man was found hiding on the floor of a Hummer limousine.

Robert Rowntree, of Lancaster, had come to Blackpool with a party of people for a birthday celebration.

Rowntree, 20, of Rowan Place, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was bailed for pre-sentence reports by District Judge Pamela Baldwin sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said there was an altercation between two groups outside the Eden club on February 8 at 2am.

A doorman saw Rowntree strike a man on the side of the head.

The victim suffered a large cut to his head and he had four stitches in the mouth. In a victim’s statement he said the attack was senseless.

When interviewed Rowntree said he had drunk 10 bottles of beer.
