Lorry hits tree and overturns

This is the dramatic picture of a lorry that ended up on its side after it hit a tree on Barton Road in Lancaster.

Police said the sole vehicle involved, a DAF Trucks insulated vehicle, overturned after hitting a tree at 7.30pm on Thursday. July 3.

North West Ambulance Service attended but the driver escaped uninjured.

Barton Road at the junction of Scotforth Road was closed until 11pm when it was reopened and the vehicle was recovered.

*A 48-year-old man from Heysham was arrested and charged with driving a vehicle dangerously, driving whilst unfit through drugs and possession of an offensive weapon, a knife.

He was bailed by police until September 6.
