A Lancaster man has been arrested by detectives investigating a burglary near Milnthorpe.

The 48-year-old was helping with police enquiries in connection with an incident in Ackenthwaite on Tuesday, December 17.

Officers said a property in the area was broken into between 9am and 1pm and items worth £5,000 stolen from inside.

Police have appealed for witnesses who saw a white transit van in the area at or around the time of the alleged burglary.

The vehicle also had red on the side advertising pest control services, police said.

Detective Inspector Amanda Sadler said: “We appeal for anyone who has seen this van in Ackenthwaite to come forward - not just those who may have seen it on the morning, but potentially over the previous days.”

Information should be passed to DC Jamie Eaton at Cumbria Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0845 555 111.
