A JUDO champion who hoped to represent Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics as a member of the Paralympics squad has been exposed as a benefit cheat.

Mother-of-four Alexis Marie Farrington claimed to the Department of Work and Pensions that on a bad day she could barely crawl across the floor or make a meal.

But video footage shown in court on Thursday revealed the visually-impaired woman throwing her opponent to the floor during an energetic bout of judo.

She was also secretly filmed by benefit fraud investigators walking, shopping and running for a bus without any difficulty. No longer a member of the British Judo visually-impaired squad, Farrington, 37, of Yewdale Avenue,

Heysham, pleaded guilty to one charge of failing to notify change of circumstances affecting benefit.
