Two schoolgirls suffered a horrific sex attack in broad daylight on the cycle track in Morecambe.
The 14-year-old girls were allegedly attacked by a group of boys, some of whom were only 12-years-old, in the middle of the afternoon.
The incident happened at 3.15pm on Saturday, May 16 on the cycle path between Trimpell Sports and Social Club in Morecambe and the Frankie and Benny’s restaurant on Central Drive.
Detective Insp Jason Richardson, of West CID, said: “We are treating this extremely seriously and I would appeal for anyone who has any information or who witnessed anything to get in touch with us.
“The girls involved are being supported by specially trained officers.”
*Five boys, three aged 12 and two aged 14 and 15 from Morecambe were arrested on suspicion of rape and assault by touching. They have all been bailed pending further enquiries until August.
