Elderley woman traumatised after knife attack in home

AN elderly woman has been left traumatised after being threatened with a knife during a robbery in her own home.

The 64-year-old was home alone when a man entered her home on Loweswater Drive, Morecambe, through an open door in broad daylight at 2.35pm on Thursday, May 17.

The man then brandished a blade and demanded money.

Frightened, the woman handed her purse to the intruder who punched her in the face knocking her to the floor.

He then left the property with a small amount of cash.

Police are appealing for any witnesses in their hunt for the intruder.

The offender is described as white, in his 20s, of slim build and wearing dark clothing.

He is also described as having a star tattoo on one of his hands.

DC Ben Benter, from Lancaster CID, said: “This is a brazen attack on a terrified woman in her own home. Fortunately she was not seriously injured but has understandably been left traumatised.”
