Double murder horrifies neighbours in quiet village

Tributes have been paid to a mum and son foun d murdered in their home.

Lisa Clay, 41, and her son Joseph Chadwick, six, were stabbed to death only weeks after moving into their new house in Bolton-le-Sands.

Lisa’s partner Paul Chadwick was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Flower and notes have been left outside the house on Lowlands Road by neighbours and friends of the family.

One tribute said: “I know you are in good hands, now Rest in peace.”

Tim Cross, headteacher at Bolton-le-Sands CE Primary School, said: “We are all shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely loss of Joseph and his mother.”

A neighbour said: “I’m so upset, I feel sick to the core.

““They were a friendly, relaxed and chatty family who I often spoke to over the garden fence.”

Police said they were still investigating the murders but that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
