A door supervisor was caught committing his fourth offence of drink-driving when police stopped him as he drove in a bus lane.

Ashley Bradford, 51, of St Wilfred’s Park, Halton, Lancaster, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 42 months, ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work and pay £145 costs by District Judge Roger Lowe sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said on June 16 at 6.20pm a police patrol saw Bradford driving a Seat Ibiza in a bus lane on Talbot Road.

A breath test showed he was almost twice over the limit. He had three previous drink- driving convictions.

Stephen Duffy, defending, said Bradford had come to the resort with his partner for the night to celebrate his birthday.

His partner had her handbag stolen and she wanted to go home, so he drove.
