Online webchat for community

Police are inviting members of the community to take part in a webchat on Wednesday May 7, between 6pm and 8pm.Inspector Paul Latham and Sergeant John Stephens, together with SLDC Enforcement Officer John Barwise, will be available to answer any questions and to discuss any concerns.

Sergeant John Stephens said: “We would be particularly interested in hearing from residents and businesses from the Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale areas who have any questions about the Appleby Fair policing operation or any other issues in the area.”

Village burglary appeal

Police are appealing for information following a burglary in Nether Kellet.

A large amount of Makita and Stihl equipment was stolen from a property on April 22, at 11.10pm .

A silver Peugeot 306/309 three door vehicle with alloy wheels was seen immediately prior to the burglary.

Please report any suspicious vehicles seen in the area immediately.

Jilted wife in court on burglary charge

A jilted wife who allegedly burgled her husband’s home will appear in crown court next month.

Roseann Mallinson, of Buxton Street, Morecambe, entered no plea to a charge of burglary when she appeared before Furness Magistrates’ Court, in Barrow, last Tuesday.

Mallinson, 48, is alleged to have stolen around £5,000 of property from her former husband’s home in Earle Street, Barrow, on February 24.

She is due to appear at Preston Crown Court on May 9.

She was released on conditional bail not to contact Neil Mallinson or enter Barrow in Furness.
