A TEENAGE couple has been charged with the murder of a four-month-old-baby boy in Lancaster.
Christopher Roberts, 18, of Great Dockray, Penrith, and Karen Irvine, 18, of Lark Field, Penrith, appeared before Lancaster magistrates on Thursday.
As well as the murder charge they stand accused of causing or allowing the death of a child.
The pair were remanded in custody to appear before Preston Crown Court where conditional bail was granted. No pleas were entered and no details of the case were heard in court during either appearance.
Police said the baby was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary on November 17, 2010, when he collapsed at his home address in the Scotforth area of the city.
He was transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool with a bleed to the brain but died four days later.
