A MAN has been fined for storing half a tonne of lead stolen from the roof of Morecambe’s famous Winter Gardens theatre at his home.

Jamie Halliwell pleaded guilty to receiving stolen goods after the lead was found in Euston Grove on October 2.

The court was told that Halliwell, 20, had found the lead in a skip and used a wheelie bin to move it into his basement, where it was found by police when they searched his home.

He also pleaded guilty to criminal damage of the bin, which belonged to Lancaster City Council.
