Out Moss Lane Councillor Josh Brandwood, the youngest councillor on Morecambe Town Council, tweeted celebrities and asked them to retweet his appeal to get the band to meet fan Leah Washington, who had to have her leg amputated following a horrific accident on a ride at Alton Towers.

Dance guru Arlene Phillips, actor Joe Swash, XFactor contestant Lauren Platt and TV personality Denise Welch have all retweeted his appeal backing up the #Get1DToLeah campaign. Coun Brandwood said: “Lauren Washington’s best friend also has acknowledged me, Sara Stuart. She originally started the campaign, I jumped on, and got lots of celebs involved.” One Direction’s agent said they are happy to meet Leah backstage at a forthcoming concert.
