“A MORECAMBE Inaction Plan”, is how one town councillor referred to the latest plan for regenerating Morecambe.

At a meeting of the town council on Thursday several councillors agreed that, despite the good intentions of its architects at the city and county councils, the Morecambe Area Action Plan (MAAP) document was not bringing anything new to the table.

Coun Darren Clifford of Poulton Ward said: “It does seem like shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic.

“Morecambe must have jobs. Let’s be more dynamic. It’s like a rehash of plans we’ve seen before. It’s not good enough. We need to be more proactive.”

Coun Geoff Walker from Harbour Ward agreed: “It is a rehash of what has gone before. Is it just going to sit there waiting for funding for years?”
