A special couple are celebrating a milestone anniversary - 65 years of marriage.
Alex and Trudi Harwood, both 88, of Alston Drive, Torrisholme, received a special card from The Queen for their blue sapphire celebrations.
The couple met in 1947, two years after the end of World War Two, when Trudi was getting ready to be demobbed.
Trudi was in the Womens Auxiliary Territorial Service (now the Womens Royal Army Corps) and Alex served in the army in the Far East.
Trudi was born in St Annes and Alex was born in Paignton in Devon.
Trudi’s parents had moved to Morecambe and she married Alex on April 22, 1950 at Bare Methodist Church on Seaborn Road.
They have a son, Ian, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Chloe.
The couple enjoy holidaying in the UK and gardening.
They enjoyed a meal for family and friends to celebrate their anniversary.
Trudi said: “We couldn’t believe it has been 65 years. We’ve done everything together.”
Alex said: “We’ve got 65 years of great memories.”
The signed card they received from the Queen takes pride of place on their mantlepiece
