More than 500 people will be showered with ‘paint’ as they jog down Morecambe promenade on Sunday morning...but it’s all for a good cause.

The Colour Dash for St John’s Hospice, sponsored by JWK Solicitors, will see participants of all ages run or walk 5km along the promenade and go through five different colour stations, where they will be showered in a rainbow of coloured powder.

The messy fun run will be started by North West Tonight presenter Beccy Meehan.

Catherine Butterworth, head of fundraising at St John’s, said: “We are really well known for our largest event the Moonlight Walk, which raises in excess of £100,000 each year for us, but only ladies are allowed to participate.

“We really wanted to organise an event for the whole family and the Colour Dash fit the requirements perfectly. We are always looking to try new things.

“We are absolutely delighted that we will have 540 people taking part.”

The run will start at 10am at VVV gym, Hest Bank, and go down the prom towards the Yacht Club and back again.
