RUNNING repairs to Morecambe promenade are going on between now and the new year.

These include maintenance to the over 100-year-old Clock Tower, where the finial (ornament at the top of the tower) and canopies have now been removed.

Exact replicas of these sections of the Clock Tower will be made and is expected to take six to eight weeks.

The two ‘Panorama’ displays next to the Yacht Club have also been removed and restored recently.

The picture frame artwork at the West End Gardens is also being repaired.

“Any damage or wear and tear identified during regular inspections is quickly dealt with so that the promenade looks at its best all year round,” said Coun Janice Hanson, deputy leader of Lancaster City Council.
