A former St Peter’s Primary School pupil will be celebrated this week as the school marks the short but fun filled life of Emily Hood.

St Peter’s CE School in Heysham is holding the event in memory of the nine-year-old who passed away suddenly in October 2012.

Emily passed away due to a rare undiagnosed congenital bowel abnormality and showed no signs of illness prior to her death.

Her parents, Vicki and Andy and other family members have marked her life every year since.

This year’s event will be held on Friday July 17 from 8.30am, for pupils and from 6.30 pm, for pupils, friends, family and the public.

Workshops and activities include Chinese drumming, a disco, karaoke, a circus and a family picnic.

The evening, open to everyone, is not a fundraising event but a party for the community.

There will also be performances from Britain’s Got Talent stars Henry Gallagher, Gabz, Mr Zip, Matt Fitzgerald and Universal’s new girl group, Tiger Heart and Hullabaloo band. A fireworks display will finish off the evening at 10.30pm.

Tickets for the evening event cost £3.50 and are available from the school office on School Road, Heysham.
