A SERIES of events organised by family and friends of a boy who donated his organs after his death in a road accident have raised more than £25,000 for the North West Air Ambulance.

George Higginson from Overton was knocked off his bike on August 13, 2009, but sadly died the following day as a result of his injuries.

His parents Jonathan and Sarah carried out his wish to be an organ donor.

The North West Air Ambulance airlifted George to Preston hospital and because this was done, time being of the essence, George was able to help save five lives.

On July 26 last year, six local lads, including George’s dad Jonathan, completed a challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
