When Alice Taylor was five years old she was a Rosebud – an attendant to the Morecambe Carnival Queen.

Thirteen years later the carnival is set to return and once again Alice will have a major role.

The 18-year-old trainee horse riding instructor from Morecambe will chaperone the lucky youngsters who will be crowned this year’s carnival King and Queen.

Alice, who has been riding horses since she was three years old, will appropriately ride in a horse and carriage at the head of the rcarnival parade on Sunday, May 4.

“It’s great that they want me to come back,” she said.

“Morecambe’s really been missing a carnival and it should be a great day.”

Alice’s father Rod is well-known in the town as a long-serving director of Morecambe FC and has recently taken over as landlord of the Morecambe Hotel pub.
