Carnforth man dies after being hit by two cars in Kirkby Lonsdale

John Bell was walking along an unlit section of the A65 at 7.50pm on Saturday March 12 when he was hit by a blue Volvo XC60. A short time later, a white Mercedes Sprinter van travelling in the same direction also collided with Mr Bell and failed to stop at the scene.

The van was later traced in Bradford and two men are helping officers with their enquiries.

PS Rob Gomery from the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the sad loss of a man’s life and an investigation has been launched to establish the exact circumstances of the collision.

“If anyone witnessed what happened or has any information that could assist with our on-going enquiries I would urge them to contact us.”
