Carnforth Community Pool fundraiser

Carnforth Community Swimming Pool, which opened its doors just under two months ago, is getting great support from the community.

The pool recently held a swimathon run by Carnforth Rotary.

Swimmers swam 49.5 miles in the pool at event, raising £2,127 for the pool and £1,340 for other worthy causes.

The most raised was £575 by Ben Taylor. Ben also swam the most lengths, 310.

The Meltons swam 334 lengths being the best adult team.

The under elevens team; Boys will be Boys swam 262 lengths.

Owen, 10, swam 82 lengths and raised £300.

Pat Wooff, Carnforth Town Mayor, said: “The community’s involvement is essential to the continued success of the pool, whether that be supporting particular fundraising initiatives or simply turning up for a swim.

“As the saying goes, “use it or lose it”!

“We have fought hard to save our local pool, let’s keep it going for another 40 years.”
