It might only be November but a local charity is urging families to get into the Christmas spirit ahead of a special festive fundraiser this month.
Lancaster’s annual Santa Dash and Reindeer Fun Run - organised by CancerCare - will take place on Sunday November 20, and invites families of all ages to walk, run, dance, prance, jog or jingle around the city centre streets in festive fancy dress to help raise vital funds in support of local people affected by cancer.
Part of the official Lancaster Christmas lights switch-on festivities, this year’s Santa Dash kicks off with a fun warm up led by Snap Fitness at 1.30pm at Market Square and follows a flat 1 mile course, fully accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Entry also includes a free Santa Suit for participants aged 14 and over and reindeer antlers for the kids.
Prizes are up for grabs for Santa’sand reindeers who raise the most cash for CancerCare, including the chance to switch on Lancaster’s Christmas Lights on the Bay Radio stage later in the day.
All proceeds from the Santa Dash will help to fund CancerCare’s vital support services for local families affected by the impact of cancer, provided at their dedicated centre on Slyne Road in Lancaster.
