Eric Morecambe’s birthday will be celebrated in style next month as shops in the town get set to dress to impress with their shop windows.
Shop owners and businesses in central Morecambe are being invited to dress their shop windows with a “birthday” theme to celebrate what would have been Eric Morecambe’s 89th birthday.
Following on from last year’s successful “Morecambe Bay” themed competition, this year’s theme offers lots of ways businesses in central Morecambe can help showcase the best of what they have on offer.
Supporting the businesses within central Morecambe is a key part of the five year Morecambe Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) 2: A View for Eric.As with previous years visual display expert Helen Goodwin of Made You Look, Made You Stare will be on hand to offer advice and tips.
This year Helen will be available to visit businesses at their premises for a short and free one-to-one appointment, offering bespoke advice about how to get the best out of window displays.
Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis on Monday April 27 and, subject to demand, Tuesday April 28.
Putting this into practice, businesses are then invited to create their own displays and enter a competition to find the best Birthday themed displays.
These should be up by Wednesday May 13 and stay in place for a minimum of two weeks during which time the efforts will be judged by a small panel once again drawn from the local community. A selection of prizes will be available to the winning entries.
To book an appointment with Helen email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01524 582307.
Application forms are available at Morecambe Town Hall and online at www.lancaster.gov.uk/erics-windows and should be submitted by no later than Friday May 8.
