The Morecambe Area Action Plan (MAAP) is part of Lancaster City Council’s Draft Local Plan.

It concentrates on central Morecambe and the promenade from the town centre to the Battery.

The MAAP sets a framework for council planning policy until 2023/4.

It sets out the council’s vision for the future of central Morecambe, their key priority regeneration area.

It has to be supported by the community before it can come into effect.

This is why there are a series of exhibitions being held on the MAAP until December 6. Every household in the district should have received a leaflet through their letterbox with details of dates and venues.

After you have had your say, the final draft plan will be produced in spring 2013.

This will be examined independently in 2013 and will come into operation in early 2014.

You can see the MAAP at www.lancaster.gov.uk/morecambeaap or at the various exhibitions being held.
