A host of local pubs have been acclaimed for the quality of their real ale by being listed in the latest CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
Making the grade in Lancaster are the Bobbin, the Borough, the White Cross, the Yorkshire House, the Merchants, the Sun, the Tap House and the Three Mariners, as well as the Garduate College Bar at Lancaster University.
The Snug in Carnforth, the Limeburners at Nether Kellet and the Woodlands at Silverdale are also included.
In Morecambe, the Eric Bartholomew in Euston Road, the Royal in Marine Road and the York Hotel in Lancaster Road have also been listed in the 2016 guide, which was published on September 10.
The book’s editor Roger Protz said: “British brewing has never been in better health, with a third consecutive year of more than ten per cent growth and more different beers being brewed than ever before.
“The range of beers available to beer drinkers now is colossal and we’re seeing real competition between pubs who want to serve the best selection of real ales, making the Good Beer Guide 2016 an indispensible book for those looking for the best pubs.”
The Eric Bartholomew manager, Gemma Lewis, said: “I am delighted that The Eric Bartholomew has been recognised for the quality of its real ales by CAMRA members.
“We offer our customers an excellent range of real ales at all times, including those from regional brewers and microbrewers, as well as hosting our own beer festivals.
“Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the real ales on offer are kept in first class condition at all times and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this.”
