The McDonald’s drive-through on Morecambe Road could open until midnight seven days a week – much to the fury of its neighbours.
Residents are angry because Lancaster City Council looks set to grant the fast food chain an opening hours extension.
The restaurant currently opens from 6am to 11pm. Bosses want to open from 5am until midnight.
Nearby resident Rachael Foot said this would be “an absolute nightmare”.
“We have ongoing issues with this restaurant already,” she said. “The area is constantly littered by customers tossing their rubbish out of the vehicle windows.”
Ian Wood, another neighbour, said: “Local youth car drivers like to play musical car horns just before closing time. With the increased opening times, getting to sleep will be a problem.”
The council planning committee will meet on May 29 at Lancaster Town Hall to discuss the application.
“Planners have recommended the extension should be approved.
“The extension will have limited impact upon neighbouring residents subject to controlling deliveries to the site and ensuring day-to-day management occurs, aid a council report.
“No objections have been raised by County Highways, the Police or Environmental Health.”
McDonald’s deliveries would be restricted to between 7am and 5pm. The restaurant has recently installed CCTV, is logging noise complaints and undertakes litter patrols three times a day.
