The Lancaster District Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Challenge was won for the second year running by Hargreave Hale Ltd of Lancaster with a spectacular score of 97 in this year’s team ‘AM-AM’ Stableford competition.

Players from Hargreave Hale Ltd beat off competition from other teams in perfect weather conditions at Lancaster Golf Cub, set in the grounds of Ashton Hall, to win the Chamber’s Golf Trophy and vouchers for the Golf Pro-Shop.

Taking second place with a score of 76, was the team from Morecambe-based company C&G Recycling, who also took away vouchers for the Golf Pro Shop which is set in the grounds of the club.

Also on the day Alan Longhorn from RBS in Lancaster won the individual prize for scoring ‘Nearest the Pin’ on the 10th hole – whilst Doug Chadwick Corporate Taxation Partner from CLB Coopers topped the scores for the ‘Longest Drive’ challenge on the 18th hole. Both players took away bottles of bubbly kindly donated by Bowland Wines.

The Chamber Golf Challenge is now in its 21st year and grows in popularity each year seeing players attending from a variety of businesses across the district.

Rebecca Walker, events & marketing officer at the Chamber, said: “It was a real pleasure to see teams entering this year’s competition and enjoying a great day of golf!

“Congratulations to Hargreave Hale Ltd for winning the trophy yet again on what was a perfect day!

“We’d like to say thanks to all who took part and to our sponsors, we look forward to welcoming players for an even bigger and better team challenge in 2016!”

Prizes were sponsored by The Bay Radio, Harrison Drury Solicitors and Bowland Wines.
