An energy firm is entering a team of its brightest young things in an apprenticeship challenge.
Centrica Energy, which has offshore facilities in the North Morecambe and South Morecambe gas fields as well as a Heysham support base is taking part in the Brathay Apprentice Challenge.
The apprentices will take part in a community project with the finalists of the National Apprenticeship Service-supported challenge announced in early April.
The top two teams will compete in an adventure challenge at Brathay Trust’s headquarters in Windermere. Connor Lancaster, 18, a control and instrumentation apprentice with Centrica Energy from Lancaster, said: “Myself and my fellow apprentices are really looking forward to taking part in the Brathay Apprentice Challenge – it should be great fun and an excellent opportunity to prove ourselves.”
Centrica Energy’s Technical Training Manager Craig Midgley, said: “We are delighted to be fielding a team in the Brathay Apprentice Challenge which is a really exciting opportunity for our apprentices to demonstrate their skills, not just in the workplace but also in the wider community.”
