The guitar-strumming brother of one of America’s most famous TV characters has revealed surprise links to Morecambe.
Jon Walmsley, who is best known to millions as Jason Walton – younger brother of John-Boy in the long running series The Waltons – is returning to his home country for a special concert as part of a fan convention.
Jon, now a world-renowned guitarist, has his roots in Morecambe in that his grandmother Mary sold knitwear at Morecambe Market on her Mary’s Bargain Stall.
His mother Marion and father Leslie also lived in Morecambe for a short time before moving back to Blackburn, where Jon was born.
But his aunty Agnes and cousin Pauline are still living in the town today.
Now living in Los Angeles, Jon is returning to the UK to play a show in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
The event takes place on Saturday September 13 at Shottery Memorial Hall and tickets are available from www.waltonsfriendshipsociety.com.
His wife Marion said: “Jon is excited to return to his home country and play for his fans there. He wants to see as many people from Morecambe and surroundings at his concert as possible!”
Jon emigrated to the US with his parents and began his performing career at the age of eight, singing and playing guitar. He was spotted by Hollywood producers on a local TV talent show and was soon appearing in commercials and television shows before the coveted Waltons role.
