The Lancaster and Morecambe Bay Chinese Community Association (LMBCCA), in collaboration with More Music, hosted a Chinese New Year celebration.

The event in the Mayor’s Parlour and Banqueting Hall was attended by the Mayor Sheila Denwood and her consort, the High Sheriff of Lancashire Mr Jeremy Corick, the Chief Executive of the Lancaster Council Mr Mark Cullinan and Mr Andy Webster, Superintendent of Lancashire Constabulary and the representatives of various organisations, including staff from Lancashire BME Pact and medical students from Lancaster University and the wider community.

People were able to have their name written in Chinese symbols, as well as playing traditional games, nail painting and face painting. Entertainment included live traditional Chinese Music in partnership with More Music Morecambe.

Many who attended wore traditional Chinese costume.

“Undoubtedly it is the most celebrated holiday in the Chinese calender for Chinese people around the world.”
