HERE is your chance to be part of Morecambe’s attempt to break the record for the world’s longest ever street party.
Bookings are now being taken for the party on the promenade on Sunday, June 3, to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend.
To celebrate 60 years of Her Majesty’s reign, organisers are hoping to have at least 1,200 tables stretching right along the seafront with the Eric Morecambe statue at the centrepoint of the fun celebratory event.
But they need your help!
“We are extremely happy that we can now say we are ready to launch the jubilee street party for Morecambe,” said Coun Tricia Heath of Morecambe Town Council, chief organiser of the event.
“We are looking to local people and businesses to make this a great sucess and show everyone the community spirit and fantastic location of Morecambe.”
Anna Scott, community fundraiser for St John’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted to be involved with such an exciting community event to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
“It is thanks to the support of community events like these that the hospice is still here today and for the future, caring for its local people and their families.
“We hope that many of the hospice’s supporters will come along and help to make this a record breaking day!”
Table space can be booked for a minimum of £5 using the booking form on this page. Proceeds will go to St John’s Hospice and Help for Heroes.
Individuals, schools and other groups are welcome to apply using the cut-out form on this page.
