Bentley calls on fans to show their support
Shrimps' boss Jim Bentley has once again appealed for fans to get behind his side as they enter the final stages of the campaign.
Morecambe have just five games to play this season and still need points to secure their League 2 safety.
And with play off chasing Carlisle expected to bring up to 2,000 fans to the Globe Arena on Saturday Bentley says his team needs local supporters more than ever.
He said: “We are at the business end of the season now and we need to make sure get as many points as possible.
“We still need points to make sure we are safe and we have five tough games to go with three of them at home.We will need everyone to be together to make sure we get the points we need.
“There are no easy games ahead and Saturday’s game against Carlisle is one of the toughest of them.
“They have done well recently and are still very much in the hunt for a play-off spot.
“We expect them to bring anywhere between 1,500 and 2,000 fans on Saturday and we need to make sure we are able to match the noise they will undoubtedly bring.
“Our home fans have really got behind us recently and we need everyone to keep with us and give us their full support. Even when things might not be going right we need people to stick with us so there is a really positive atmosphere during the game.’’
Looking at the game itself he said: “It will be tough. Carlisle’s away form is good and we all know they have some excellent players in the likes of Jamie Devitt and Cole Stockton but we have been doing well ourselves lately.
“We lost for only the second time in 10 games at Cheltenham on Saturday and we need to make sure we have got that defeat out of our system.
“We all know the importance of the game and the next couple of weeks and we have been working hard to make sure we get things right on the day.”
lTHE Shrimps have reduced prices for their rearranged game against Cambridge United.
The game, which was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch on Easter Monday, will be replayed at the Globe Arena on Tuesday, April 24.
Tickets for the game will be priced at just £10 for standing and £12 for seating for all adult fans with all junior prices just £4.
The Shrimps’ award winning Matchday Hospitality will be offering a ‘Supper Menu’ in the Local Choice Suite priced at £15 for Morecambe Season ticket holders and £28 for non-season ticket holders.
Director, Rod Taylor, said: “With so many games coming up over the next few weeks for home fans and the knowledge that a large number of Cambridge supporters were left disappointed by Monday’s postponement we wanted to give something back.
“We hope as many fans as possible make the most of the offer.”
