Barry Roche column - We battled to keep cup dream alive

Well the main thing is that we are still in the FA Cup and in with a chance of progressing to the next round.

For 20 minutes on Saturday we were absolutely outstanding but after that we found ourselves largely on the back foot.

We started the game really brightly and Andy Fleming’s great strike was the least we deserved and it could have been even better but for an excellent stop by the Rochdale keeper.

After that we ended up having to defend and dig really deep to keep our FA Cup dream alive.

We know we are in for another tough night in the replay but we go there with no fear having beaten them there in the league fixture a few weeks ago.

Having said that, cup football is completely different and they will fancy their chances of progressing every bit as much as us.

A trip to Coventry is a massive incentive to go through and a tie that both sides will fancy causing an upset in.

That by no means is disrespecting the League One side as they will be overwhelming favourites, but they are on a bad run of form of late although they will more than likely welcome a break from league action.

With two massive league games this week we really need to get back to winning ways and put our last two defeats behind us.

Derbies against Accrington are always very difficult games but are one of the first games I look for when the fixtures come out.

I suppose that is because we haven’t beaten them in the league and we are all so desperate to do so!

Surely we are due a win against them soon aren’t we?
