Arrests after Morecambe v Blackpool game

Assault, criminal damage and drunk and disorderly behaviour were all reported to police following the Shrimps 2-1 win over Blackpool on Saturday.

Police were called to various reports of violence in the area following the first league clash between the clubs.

Police received reports of a doorman being assaulted at The Crafty Scholar on Church Street, in Lancaster at around 6.50pm on August 13.

A 31 year-old-man from Blackpool was arrested and later given a caution for assault.

A 53 year-old-man from St Annes was also given a penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly.

Further issues were reported at The Crafty Scholar which lead to a group of 20 supporters being escorted to the railway station.

A temporary dispersal order was also put in place and four men were required to leave the area.

In Morecambe, Blackpool fans were also asked to leave a pub outside the Globe Arena shortly after the game.

A manager at the Hurley Flyer pub in Morecambe said staff witnessed no violence inside the pub and confirmed police entered around 5.30pm, telling Blackpool fans to leave.

Police also received reports that between approximately 5.25pm and 5.30pm on August 13 a car had been vandalised, as it left the ground on Christie Way, carrying several Blackpool Football Club senior officials.

As mounted officers attempted to prevent damage to the vehicle a horse slipped on an uneven surface and partially fell on its rider.

Injuries to both the horse and the rider are minor although further checks are being carried out.

The car was scratched and dented and some damage was caused to the windscreen.

Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made as yet.
