Appeal after assault on cycle track in Morecambe

A 16-year-old boy was walking on his own from the direction of Euston Grove on the cycle track when he was approached by a group of seven or eight youths, wearing balaclavas and/or facemasks.

The group attacked the teenager, punching him to the face and kicking him in the ribs and back as he curled up on the floor to protect himself. The group were wearing dark-coloured tracksuits, one of them being blue Armani, another being black Adidas.

A male dog walker, described as tall with grey/white hair wearing a green jacket, walking a white Staffordshire Bull terrier with black markings, shouted at the group to leave the boy alone. The group then ran off in the direction of Morrisons.

The incident happened at or around 7.50pm on December 4,

PC Simon Harrison from Lancaster & Morecambe Police said: “We would ask the public, if they witnessed the incident, to get in contact with us. We would also appeal to the individual who shouted at the group to make contact.”
