Amusement arcade fashion keeps it in the family

Fashion designer and photographer Alice Bardgett and model Lucy Bardgett transformed the Oasis arcade on the seafront into the unlikely setting for a vintage photo shoot.

Alice, 22, hopes the results will launch her career as a fashion designer.

She used the photos as part of her final examination in her degree course at Chelsea College of Art in London.

Alice, from Warton, was inspired by the many time she has visited Morecambe during her life.

“My whole fashion collection was inspired by the dance scene around the area and the British seaside,” she said.

“I love the colours in Oasis and the plastic palm trees!

“With the Midland hotel and Winter Gardens, the faded glamour of Morecambe is unique.”

Lucy, who works at Dance and Leisurewear on Marine Road Central, was joined by local girls Helen Howard and Talia Bentley as models for the shoot. All three are dancers at the LDS Theatre Arts School in Lancaster.

They also posed at the St Winifred’s Hotel on Marine Road East.

As Alice specialised in printed textiles at Chelsea, all the clothes in the images were designed, hand printed and dyed by herself.

And to keep the project even more in the family, the outfits were made by her auntie Jane Thomas Colquhoun who is a costume maker.
