Vote for Lancaster talent show ‘wild cards’

They are among six ‘wild cards’ who could appear live on stage in Lancaster next month at the Furness Charity Stars contest.

Voters now have the chance to pick their two favourites from the six wild cards, who will then perform at the Grand Theatre event on February 21.

Each finalist has chosen a charity and will compete for a share of a £3,000 prize pot, with money going to their good causes.

The wild cards include teenager Megan Stanford from Carnforth, Morecambe girl group Harmony, Steve Rayner from Morecambe representing Galloway’s Society for the Blind and David Monaghan from Heysham.

Ciara Quinn, aged just seven, from Walton le Dale in Preston, is the youngest wild card entry and in her video performs ‘Frozen’ hit ‘Let it Go’. Ten year old Louisa Henshaw from Grimsargh near Preston completes the wild card line-up.

Twelve finalists have already been picked, including Emmie Togneri from Morecambe, Faye Anna Bowness from Milnthorpe, Lyndsey Davies from Heysham, 74-year-old Ron Carey from Heysham, and Lancaster/Bolton-le-Sands duo Ella Jones and Lucy Leamy.

The competition is organised by Furness Building Society and The Bay radio, in conjunction with The Visitor and Lancaster Guardian.

A panel of judges on the night will include Greg Lambert, content editor of The Visitor and the Lancaster Guardian, and The Bay radio’s Darren Milby.

The show will be hosted by The Bay breakfast show presenter Danny Matthews.

The finalists will compete for prizes of £1,000 for first place, £750 for second place, and £500 for third place, with £100 for each of the other finalists so that all of the charities represented on stage will benefit.

Bill Johnston, managing director of The Bay, said: “We have a great range of talent lined up for the final to highlight the outstanding work undertaken by the charities they represent. Now we need supporters to really get behind the acts, and of course our audience to join the fun in January by helping to select our two wild card finalists.”
