Turning up the musical heat at More Music

More Music’s The Hothouse is a venue for internationally acclaimed musicians from the worlds of folk, jazz, world music and more.

This autumn look out for Moulettes return on September 19 with their wonderful three part harmony female vocals, amplified cello, distorted bassoon, drums, double bass, guitars and synths. They will be supported by Slytones and Science of the Lamps.

On Saturday October 17 Sam Lee plays with support bands Bill Lloyd and The Lakeland Fiddlers.

Sam Lee is a Mercury Music Prize nominee and is hailed as one of Britain’s most inventive folk singers.

Seckou Keita teams up with Gwyneth Glyn on Saturday October 24. Seckou is an extraordinary Senegalese kora player and Gwyneth, who sings in Welsh, is a poet and writer.

Jazz band Partisans play on Saturday November 21 and will be supported by The Steels / Bartholomew Quintet.

More Music will also have an open day on Saturday October 3 with lots of participatory music and arts workshops.

Visitors can find out what More Music do, watch performances, listen to live music, join in and play an instrument or get involved in a workshop.

More Music will also be home to a full Javanese Gamelan from October 19 – 30.

During the two-week long residency at The Hothouse there will be school workshops, creative sessions, training days and the opportunity to play the gamelan.

Alongside the gigs, More Music’s regular classes start again on September 21.
