Memories of Morecambe have been flowing thick and fast in the Arndale Centre.
The team behind Victoria Street Press, a nostalgic street art project in Morecambe, spent an afternoon in the Arndale gathering personal anecdotes from the public.
The idea of Victoria Street Press is to create a series of large newspaper page-style murals on the outside walls of buildings on the town centre street.
These pieces of artwork will tell stories, some relevant to Morecambe’s history, and others personal to local people.
Some of the memories given to the Victoria Street Press team included the landaus that used to operate on Morecambe Promenade, Fahy’s garage on Marine Road, the old Carousel Bar at the Fun City playland, Agatha Christie visiting the Midland, and Gracie Fields performing at the Winter Gardens.
Somebody even recalled old-time tenor and singer John Hanson, famed for musical ‘The Desert Song’, performing in the resort.
Do you have any memories of Morecambe you would like to share? Maybe you have more to tell on the topics above.
