Town's pioneering ambulance brigade.

This grainy old photograph from our archives shows the line up at the first aid class from which the first ever Morecambe Ambulance Brigade was formed.

Pictured are: left to right (standing); Alf Shaw (plumber), Rueben Woodhouse (employed on Morecambe Harbour), Jack Stocks (plumber), Joshua Jowett (newsagent, who had the shop on the corner of Euston Road and the promenade).

Second row is Sam Weller (stage manager at the Winter Gardens), Rev T T Lancaster (curate at Morecambe Parish Church),Dr H F Oldham (founder of the St John Ambulance Brigade), Mr Taylor (deputy instructor), Alf Wilding (plumber) and Tom Waddington (chemist).

Does anyone have any more information about the formation of the Morecambe Ambulance Brigade?

And can anybody date the photo?
