YO ho ho, it’s time to celebrate the 120th birthday of an amateur dramatics group with a fine nautical offering from Gilbert and Sullivan.
LADOS (Lancaster Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society) will perform The Pirates of Penzance at The Grand Theatre, Lancaster from May 3 to 7.
LADOS first performed this show in 1893 and again in 1952. However, the 2011 version has an updated style appropriate to the 21st century complete with a few surprises.
Bryan Wood will turn his hand to directing this year and injects his own particular brand of humour into the proceedings resulting in some excellent comic character cameos within the cast line-up.
